LIBRARY SERVICES

1.  Reference and Information Services

  • Information Service – Provide answer to specific questions, statistical data, biographies, etc. through searching and retrieval of appropriate materials based on the query of the clientele.
  • Library Instruction – Provide orientation to freshmen and transferees on the library services, policies, borrowing procedures and rules and regulations on how to use the library resources and research tools such as card catalog,   periodical index, bibliographic services, etc.  Instructional tours to different sections of the library is scheduled. 
  • Bibliographic Service – Provide bibliographies of references requested by the faculty such as  list of new titles of books, list of books by subject and list of new acquisitions.
  • Reader’s Service – Provide guidance to the clientele in their choice of reading materials.
  • Term Paper Assistance – Provide assistance in the making of   term/research paper.

2.  Circulation Services

  • Book Loaning Service   – Circulation books are available for home use.  
  • Reserve Book Service    – Provision of materials to classroom instruction (e.g. textbooks review and instructional materials).

3.  Periodical Services

  • Current Awareness Service – Provide current information through bulletin board display and current resources such as newspapers, journals and vertical file materials.  
  • Indexing Service – Provision of in-house index of pertinent and relevant articles from magazines and journals.

4.  Reading Room Service – Provision of reading rooms and carrels for individual use.

5.  Shelving and Stack Service – Students should return the books on top of the shelves where the books were taken to avoid misplacement.  Student assistants will take charge of returning the books on their respective shelves. Regular shelf reading is done.  Daily statistics of book utilization are also maintained. 

6.  Photocopying Service – Photocopying services are provided for easy reproduction of research topics for user’s utmost needs.

7.  Interlibrary Loan Service – Provide access to users from other libraries of SKSU and vice versa through referrals from the librarians.

8Resource Sharing and Networking – Provides linkages and cooperation between libraries and information center for sharing available resources and information through networking.
