Library Rules and Regulations

 

Conduct Guidelines

  1. All students are required to log in/out in the Library System or Log Book. Visitors & outside users are required to write in the log sheet at the entrance/exit.
  2. The library is a study area wherein utmost QUIETNESS IS REQUIRED. Idle conversations, laughter, and unnecessary noise should be avoided, if necessary talking should be done in subdued tones.
  3. The library is an area for study and learning. CELLPHONES and OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGETS MUST BE MUTED otherwise USE EARPHONES.
  4. Put back the chairs to its proper places before leaving.
  5. Keep the library clean.  Clean As You Go “CLAYGO.”
  6. Newspaper must be returned to the newspaper racks after used.
  7. Books and other resources used should be left on the table.
  8. VANDALISM (defacing, marking, butting, mutilating or damaging) library resources in any way will not be tolerated. Whoever is caught will be subject to disciplinary action and/or will be charged the full replacement cost of the resources. Resources borrowed should be protected from RAIN, DUST, INSECT, etc.
  9. To maximize the space, all unnecessary belongings should be left in the depository shelf counter before entering the library reading area.

Use of Library Cards

Library ID card is required upon entering the library for Log-in/log-out.  A proper validated and barcoded library ID card should be presented to the circulation librarian when borrowing the library materials. When returning the borrowed library materials, students are assured to claim back Library ID card. The library does not assume any responsibility for the loss or damaged Library ID card.

  • In case of lost ID, the student shall secure an affidavit of loss before applying for library ID replacement and shall pay PhP150.00 at cashier’s office. READER

Categories of Library Users

  • SKSU Clientele – Bona fide students and employees who are currently enrolled and working in SKSU.
  • Non-SKSU Clientele – Off-campus researchers of SKSU.
  • Eligible Borrowers – Students who are enrolled and employees who are currently working in SKSU.

Entrance Requirements

For SKSU Clientele a properly validated library ID; For non- SKSU constituents, a valid ID card, referral letter from their current institution and an Official Receipt (OR) amounting Php 50 for library fee shall be presented upon entering the library. Payment shall be made directly to the university cashier’s office.

Lending Policies

  1. A properly barcoded library ID shall be required upon borrowing any library
    materials. No library ID, means no borrowing of books and other library materials.
    2. Students may borrow a maximum of three books at a time for a period of:
  • 3 days renewable for up to 6 days for Laboratory High School Students
  • 3 days renewable for up to 6 days for Undergraduate Students
  • 1 week renewable for up to 2 weeks  for Graduate Studies
  • 1 week renewable for up to 2 weeks for Law Students
  1. Faculty and staff both regular, Contract of Service and Job Order personnel mayv borrow a maximum of 5 titles (for limited copies) at a time for 3 months. A reminder slip will be given to the faculty and staff who could not return the borrowed books on its due date.
  2. No one is allowed to borrow or renew library materials if there is a high demand for usage.
  3. Reserved books are not allowed to be borrowed for overnight use.
  4. Failure to return the book/s on the specified due date shall be submitted to the following penalties:
  • Php 10 per day for Filipiniana collections and Php 2 for Circulation collections Laboratory High School Students
  • Php 10 per day for Filipiniana collections and Php 2 for Circulation collections Undergraduate Students
  • Php 12 per week for Filipiniana and Circulation collections Graduate Students
  • Php 11 per day for Reserve and Circulation collections Law Students
  • Paying accumulated book fines;
  • PhP 50.00 below accumulated fines – students must pay directly to the library counter
  • PhP 50.00 above accumulated fines – students must pay to the cashier and present the receipt to the librarian

Clearance Requirements

  1. Cut-off for borrowing of book/s for home use shall be 3 days before signing of clearance for undergraduate students and 1 week before signing of clearance for College of Graduate Studies, College of Law and Diploma in Teaching students.
  2. Every semester, faculty members and staff shall return their borrowed book/s before the signing of clearance.
  3. Library patrons with accountabilities shall not be cleared unless they settle it accordingly.
  • Borrowers must return all borrowed books from the library.
  • Borrowers must pay the accumulated book fines.
  • Borrowers must replace lost book/s if there is any with the exact title. If the lost book is out of print, a current or published at least 5 years ago shall be preferred.
