From September 7 to 9, 2026, the 2nd Global Qualitative Research Conference gathered scholars worldwide at Cebu Technological University, Cebu City — three dynamic days dedicated to advancing qualitative inquiry, sharing meaningful innovations, and upholding the highest standards of research integrity. Representing Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) with pride and distinction was a delegation of 20 distinguished academics and researchers, united by a shared commitment to CATH: Credibility, Authority, Transparency, and Heart — the core values that guide every effort to produce meaningful, impactful scholarship.
The delegation was ably led by Dr. Mildred F. Accad, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, whose steady leadership anchored the group throughout the event. Their participation was made possible through the full and generous support of Atty. Cyrus E. Torena, DPA, MNSA, University President, whose vision for global academic engagement empowers SKSU researchers to learn, connect, and grow on the international stage. Helping steer the university’s research direction is CEO Dr. Safary Wa-Mbaleka, who together with board members Dr. Mildred F. Accad and Dr. Patricia Estrada-Gonzales of Costa Rica, serves on the Advisory Board of Qualitative Research Connect, LLC — collectively guiding SKSU toward ever greater heights of academic excellence. Separately, Dr. Mildred Accad and Dr. Jenevieve Lumbuan served as session chairs.
A defining highlight of the conference for every SKSU delegate was the rare privilege of meeting Dr. Virginia Braun — world-renowned qualitative researcher, celebrated author, and leading authority on thematic analysis and qualitative research methods. Her work has set global benchmarks for clarity, creativity, and methodological integrity; to learn directly from her, exchange insights, and witness her brilliance and warmth in person was both a profound honor and a lasting inspiration. Dr. Braun embodies the very essence of what we strive for: research that is rigorous, thoughtful, and deeply human — CATH in its truest sense.
Carrying the SKSU banner with enthusiasm and professionalism were the delegates: Dr. Adrian V. Protacio, Dr. Mary Grace L. Perocho, Dr. Cris John Bryan C. Dela Cruz, Dr. Elizabeth S. Bauzon, Dr. Charmie L. Ancheta, Dr. May Nectar Cyrill Loja-Tabares, Dr. Elvie Diaz, Dr. Abraham S. Accad, Dr. Helen M. Espartero, Prof. Gemma A. Constantino, Dr. Nancy B. Espacio, Dr. Roselyn M. Calixtro, Dr. Walter C. Latorza, Dr. Emy A. Morbo, Dr. Jeeb T. Abelito, Dr. Rosita Rizaldo, Dr. Doreen B. Tampus, Dr. Mary Joy Cambel-Carnazo, and Dr. Christine P. Abo. Each delegate engaged actively with international peers, shared fresh perspectives, and brought home valuable insights that will shape research, teaching, and practice across the university.
As the three-day conference concluded, the delegation returned home carrying more than new knowledge — they carried renewed purpose. Inspired by Dr. Virginia Braun’s extraordinary example, strengthened by visionary institutional leadership, and guided always by CATH, SKSU stands ready to advance qualitative research with excellence, integrity, and heart. From Cebu City to Sultan Kudarat: excellence connects, knowledge inspires, and great things lie ahead.
