Article I, Section 2 of the Republic Act 9258 otherwise known as An Act Professionalizing the Practice of Guidance and Counseling and Creating for this Purpose a Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and Counseling, Appropriating Funds Therefor and for Other Purposes states that “The State recognizes the important role of guidance and counselors in nation-building and promotes the sustained development of reservoir of  guidance and counselors whose competence have been determined by honest and credible licensure examinations whose standards of professional practice and service are world-class and Internationally recognized, globally competitive through preventive regulatory measures, programs and activities that foster their continuing professional development.”

Anchored in this Republic Act, SKSU has established the Guidance and Testing Center as a support sector in the university that provides professional services among its clientele.

The Center is composed of the Guidance Director, the Guidance Counselors, Support Staff and Peer Helpers Group who work hand in hand in order to realize its vision, mission, philosophy, goals and objectives.

The Guidance Center is committed to the holistic human development by providing professional help through guidance services within the university.

PHILOSOPHY

The Guidance Center shall pursue to offer and facilitate professional help, which is committed to the total human development integrated in life, faith and culture within the university.

GOALS
  • To provide guidance services based on the needs and interests of the students and other stakeholders.
  • To serve and facilitate a harmonious and peaceful relationship within the university.
OBJECTIVES
  • To provide the university a professional expertise for the students and other stakeholders to develop sound and mature decision making skills.
  • To assist students in understanding their abilities, interests and personality traits to maximize and develop their potentials to achieve their goals.
  • To coordinate with the Administration and other stakeholders in the implementation of the guidance services.

Organizational Structure

Guidance and Testing Center Staff
