TACURONG CITY, PHILIPPINES — Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) College of Medicine officially inaugurated its newly equipped Skills Laboratory on September 12, 2026, marking a major milestone in advancing local medical education and practical healthcare training.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting and blessing of the facility were spearheaded by SKSU University President Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña, Provincial Health Director Ruztom David A. Bella, and College of Medicine Dean Dr. Apolinario M. De Gracia Jr.
The upgraded laboratory features high-fidelity simulation mannequins designed to provide medical students with realistic, hands-on, simulation-based clinical training. These advanced tools are expected to play a crucial role in building the students’ clinical competence, practical confidence, and overall readiness for professional medical practice.
The College of Medicine expressed its deep gratitude to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through its CHED-SEED Program, acknowledging the agency’s invaluable support and investment in funding the high-fidelity simulation mannequins.
The inauguration event was attended by key university officials, including Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Alan A. Maglantay, Vice President for Finance, Administration, and Resource Generation Dr. Reynaldo H. Dalayap Jr., Director for Instruction Dr. Doreen B. Tampus, and ACCESS Campus Director Dr. Christine P. Abo, alongside the faculty, staff, and medical students of the institution.
With the opening of this facility, SKSU reaffirms its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by delivering high-caliber medical education and training future healthcare professionals dedicated to serving the community and the nation.
