On May 30, 2025, the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Sultan Kudarat State University hosted its 4th Research Exposition at the Multi-Purpose Hall, 3rd Floor, Administration Building, SKSU-ACCESS Campus. The activity brought together student researchers, faculty, and evaluators for a day of research engagement, scholarly discourse, and academic exchange.

In the spirit of intellectual engagement and research-driven learning, the exposition brought together eleven dynamic groups of student researchers who presented their studies before an esteemed panel of evaluators. The program underscored the importance of evidence-based practice in the field of criminology and criminal justice, in alignment with the university’s mission to foster a culture of research among its learners.

Guiding the rigorous evaluation process were respected experts in the field: Dr. Marnie J. Besas, who served both as evaluator and resource person; Dr. Noel A. Domalogdog; and Mr. Welard Jay C. Vicera, MST. Their insights and constructive feedback enriched the academic journey of each participant and underscored the value of well-grounded, socially relevant research.

The program was organized under the supervision of Dr. Marlon D. Bangonon, Research Coordinator and BS Criminology Program Chairperson, in coordination with College Dean Rogelio C. Palanog, Jr., MSCJ, and Prof. Marilou U. Perez, MSCrim, Program Chairperson of the BS Industrial Security Management.

Among the many commendable presentations, several were given special recognition for their excellence. Justine Frank N. Wee was awarded Best Presenter, under the guidance of Dr. Cherry Vanessa M. Ventura. The Best Research Paper was presented by Rey S. Lagang, Al-Morshed A. Ebus, and Kaye Neth S. Dela Cruz, with Dr. Crizjale V. Ahmad as their adviser. Recognized for Best Information for Dissemination were Rhea Mae T. Morales, Norol-Haq M. Budi, and Jeryl E. Rapusas, mentored by Prof. Marilou U. Perez, MSCrim. Lastly, the Best Research Poster was awarded to Christian Ray M. Bayron, Jheyro N. Panes, and Dillian B. Samillano, also under the advisement of Dr. Cherry Vanessa M. Ventura.

These distinctions reflect not only the hard work and dedication of the students but also the invaluable support of their advisers, mentors, and the entire CCJE faculty. More than a competition, the event served as a platform for future criminologists to articulate their advocacies, propose practical solutions, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of their discipline.

This event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusive, equitable, and quality learning opportunities for all. Through the exposition, students were empowered to deepen their academic knowledge, engage in critical research, and present data-driven insights that address real-world challenges in the field of criminology. By fostering a culture of inquiry, academic excellence, and innovation, the College of Criminal Justice Education contributes to building a more informed, skilled, and socially responsible generation of professionals.

Indeed, the 4th CCJE Research Exposition reaffirmed Sultan Kudarat State University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a research-oriented academic environment, where ideas thrive, knowledge is shared, and every student is empowered to become a catalyst for change.
