The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) conducted a series of activities yesterday, July 24, 2025, at Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) aimed at strengthening the university’s internationalization initiatives and ensuring the successful hosting of an upcoming ASEAN event.
In the morning, CHED Education Supervisor II and Internationalization (IZN) Focal Person, Mr. Danstone Guy P. Dayaday, together with Mr. Janreve M. Odango, Project Technical Staff III for Transnational Higher Education (TNHE), delivered a comprehensive discussion on internationalization, university world rankings, and their qualifications. The presentation covered major global ranking systems such as The World University Rankings in Innovation, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, QS Asian University Rankings, and QS World University Rankings. They emphasized the importance of aligning institutional practices with international standards to enhance global competitiveness and academic reputation.
The session was attended by SKSU President Dr. Samson L. Molao, key university officials, campus directors, and deans, who actively engaged in the discussion to explore strategies that would propel the university towards international recognition and collaboration.
In the afternoon, a preparatory meeting was held with CHED personnel, participants from various higher education institutions (HEIs) in Sultan Kudarat, and committee representatives to discuss the plans and requirements for the upcoming ASEAN event to be hosted by SKSU. The meeting focused on the coordination of tasks, program flow, and logistical arrangements to ensure that the university’s hosting will reflect excellence, cultural pride, and academic integrity.
These activities reaffirm CHED’s commitment to guiding HEIs towards international standards and SKSU’s dedication to fostering partnerships, strengthening academic programs, and showcasing its capacity as a premier higher education institution in the region.
This initiative strongly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, as it aims to enhance the quality and global relevance of higher education in the Philippines. Moreover, it aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among universities, CHED, and ASEAN institutions, thereby contributing to the advancement of inclusive, equitable, and globally competitive education for all.
