Sultan Kudarat State University successfully hosted the IZN and TNHE Caravan & ASEAN 2025 on August 21, 2025 at the Sultan Kudarat Convention Center, Tacurong City. Anchored on the theme “Flavors, Traditions, and Trade: Strengthening ASEAN Identity through Culture and Innovation,” the event highlighted ASEAN’s rich cultural heritage, culinary traditions, and innovative practices through exhibitions, food demonstrations, and performances.
The opening program was graced by distinguished guests and partners, including Dr. Samson L. Molao, President of Sultan Kudarat State University; Dir. Rody P. Garcia, MDM, JD, EdD, Regional Director of CHEDRO XII; Hon. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh, Consulate General of Malaysia in Davao City; Hon. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu, Governor of the Province of Sultan Kudarat; and Christine Grace L. Tan, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist of DTI XII. The University extends its appreciation to Dr. Samson L. Molao for his steadfast leadership and support in advancing SKSU’s internationalization efforts, and for championing initiatives that strengthen ASEAN identity through culture and innovation.
Among the highlights of the celebration were the ASEAN Halal Food Demonstration and Tasting, the ASEAN Expo Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, and various cultural performances by SKSU Teatro Kalakat and SKSU Las Cuerdas. Exhibits featuring ASEAN and local sustainable products, eco-entrepreneurship displays, and youth-led innovations were also showcased throughout the day.
This activity not only underscored the importance of fostering international linkages and collaboration, but also contributed to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 – No Poverty, 2 – Zero Hunger, 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, 4 – Quality Education, 10 – Reduced Inequalities, 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. The event reaffirmed Sultan Kudarat’s role as a hub of cultural exchange, education, and trade in the region, while strengthening ASEAN identity through culture and innovation.
