A historic milestone for higher education and healthcare in Central Mindanao has been achieved with the passage of Republic Act (RA) No. 12283, establishing the College of Medicine at Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU). The law lapsed into effect on September 7, 2024, in accordance with Article VI, Section 27 (1) of the Constitution.
Under this Act, the SKSU-College of Medicine will offer a Doctor of Medicine program. With this, SKSU aims to develop a corps of professional physicians who will strengthen the country’s healthcare system while addressing the human resource needs of Sultan Kudarat and the wider Central Mindanao Region. The College is likewise mandated to pursue research, extension services, and progressive leadership in medical education.
Sultan Kudarat State University extends its deepest gratitude to University President Samson L. Molao, EdD whose unwavering leadership and vision continue to steer the university toward greater heights, and to then Representative of the 1st District of Sultan Kudarat, now Mayor of Isulan, Bai Rihan M. Sakaluran, along with members of Congress and the Senate, for their invaluable support in the passage of this Act. Their collective efforts have made possible the realization of the SKSU-College of Medicine, a landmark development that will not only elevate the University but also contribute to nation-building by producing future physicians dedicated to service and excellence.
