Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) conducted the Strategic Futures Workshop: Futures Thinking Towards Sustainable Development on October 16–17, 2025, at the university’s Main and ACCESS Campuses. The activity gathered university leaders, faculty researchers, and experts from PhilFutures to enhance foresight, innovation, and sustainability in institutional planning and governance.
With the full support of University President Samson L. Molao, EdD, the workshop reflected SKSU’s strong commitment to fostering future-ready leadership and promoting sustainable development across its academic and administrative sectors.
The first day, held at the 3rd Floor Multipurpose Hall, featured discussions led by Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag and Dr. Rupert S. Sangalang, Senior Fellows of PhilFutures, who shared valuable insights on “Metrics that Matter,” “Strategic Competencies,” and “Visioned Reimagined.” Their sessions emphasized the importance of futures thinking and strategic competencies in guiding higher education institutions toward sustainable growth.
The activity continued at the Graduate School Hall, SKSU ACCESS Campus, where participants presented their outputs and attended a lecture by Prof. Ramces M. Dili, Senior Fellow of PhilFutures, on “Nuts and Bolts: PATRES – Operation/Action Plans, Activities and Tasks, Resources Required.” The workshop concluded with the awarding of certificates to the resource persons and participants.
The Strategic Futures Workshop also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through initiatives that strengthen foresight, collaboration, and innovation, SKSU continues to advance its commitment to providing quality education and building a sustainable, future-ready academic community.
