SKSU, PhilHealth Launch YAKAP Caravan

November 19, 2025 — Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) welcomed the PhilHealth YAKAP Service Delivery Caravan 2025, participated in by SKSU students and personnel, as well as representatives from other selected higher education institutions (HEIs). The activity, held at the 3rd Floor Administration Building of the ACCESS Campus in Tacurong City, aims to provide graduating students and the academic community with accessible health services and vital health information. The event was fully supported by University President Samson L. Molao, EdD, who emphasized the university’s commitment to the well-being of its students and personnel.

The program opened with the unveiling of the YAKAP Marketing Brand, highlighting the collaboration among PhilHealth, SKSU, Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital (SKPH), City Health Office of Tacurong City, Vital Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Pharmacy and Medical Clinic, and St. Louis Hospital. The activity was coordinated by Director for Health and Ancillary Services, Grace R. Pedrola, RN, ensuring smooth implementation and participation.

Dr. Marites B. Java, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the opening message, emphasizing the importance of health literacy in the academic community. Dr. Hector Zenon Leonardo P. Malate, PhilHealth Regional Vice President, also addressed participants, underlining the significance of partnerships between educational institutions and health agencies. University President Samson L. Molao, EdD, reaffirmed his full support for the initiative, encouraging students and personnel to maximize the services offered.

A ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between SKSU and PhilHealth formalized their collaboration in delivering accessible, student-centered health services.

Participants then attended a briefing on the PhilHealth Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) led by Joy S. Lizada, Senior Social Insurance Officer, who discussed the program’s benefits and available services. The day concluded with closing remarks by Cheryl V. Ang, Point Person for Special Laws, who encouraged attendees to fully utilize the services provided.

The YAKAP Service Delivery Caravan continues until November 21, 2025, offering on-site consultations, health education, and assistance. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, promoting accessible healthcare, knowledge empowerment, student and personnel well-being, and strong collaborations between institutions and agencies.
