Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) — ACCESS Campus hosted “Breaking the Silence: Ending Violence Against Women” on December 12, 2025, in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights–Region XII and the SKSU Center for Human Rights Education. The event formed part of the national 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, reinforcing the university’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of women across the campus.

In his solidarity message, SKSU President Dr. Samson L. Molao urged the community to take an active role in protecting women’s rights. “A society that empowers women is a society that progresses. A campus that protects women is a campus that thrives. A nation that honors women is a nation that rises,” he emphasized, calling for courage, determination, and shared responsibility in addressing gender-based violence. He reminded participants that men must stand not only for women, but with women, in building a safer and more compassionate society.

The programme featured a welcome message from GAD Director and CHRE Coordinator Rashida A. Asis, followed by technical discussions led by CHR–Region XII resource speakers. Information Officer III Arnold B. Aumento discussed the salient features of RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, highlighting its role in addressing harassment in both public and online spaces. Information Officer II Loreto B. Condesa continued with an in-depth discussion of RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women, underscoring the State’s duty to uphold and protect the rights of women.

The event underscored its contribution to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 on gender equality by strengthening protective mechanisms for women, and SDG 17 on partnerships for the goals through collaboration between CHR–Region XII, SKSU, and community stakeholders. They emphasized the importance of sustaining these partnerships beyond the campaign to ensure lasting protection, accountability, and empowerment for women across the university and the broader community.
