Empowering Identity: World Hijab Day 2026 at Sultan Kudarat State University

February 13, 2026 – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Region XII, in partnership with Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), formally conducted the observance of World Hijab Day 2026 at the SKSU ACCESS Campus. The activity was organized in collaboration with the University’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office, the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), and the Muslim Student Organization (MSO), carrying the theme: “World Hijab Day 2026: Celebrating Identity, Empowering Women, and Advancing Inclusive Growth.”

The program convened university officials, faculty members, students, and invited guests to commemorate the global observance that recognizes the hijab as a symbol of faith, identity, and dignity among Muslim Women. The celebration underscored the importance of promoting cultural understanding, gender inclusivity, and respect for religious diversity within academic institutions and the broader community.

A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of a Plaque of Appreciation by National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Region XII to University President Dr. Samson L. Molao in recognition of his invaluable services and unwavering support for the observance of World Hijab Day. In his message, Dr. Molao emphasized the University’s dedication to diversity and respect, stating, “Here in our university we consider this university that respects diversity and nurtures moral convictions, the Sultan Kudarat State University stands in strong support of our Muslim constituents in practicing this obligation”. The award reflected the strong partnership between the Commission and the University in advancing initiatives that safeguard the welfare and rights of Muslim Filipinos while promoting inclusive growth in the region.

The celebration also featured informative discussions, solidarity messages and competitions that enriched participants’ understanding of the cultural and spiritual significance of the hijab. Through this initiative, Sultan Kudarat State University reaffirmed its role as a proactive partner in nation-building, strengthening its commitment to inclusivity, gender responsiveness, and meaningful community engagement.
