Tacurong City — The Sultan Kudarat State University Technical Working Group, led by the College of Teacher Education Dean and at the same time, the Project leader of SKSU for TARA BASA! Tutoring Program, Dr. Anesa P. Mangindra, conducted a Program Re-Orientation and Exploratory Meeting with representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 12, headed by Ms. Millenn Mae Navarra. The meeting was held at the SKSU College of Teacher Education Accreditation Office on November 13, 2025.
This significant gathering focused on the proposed renewal of the partnership between SKSU and DSWD Region XII for the continuation and enhancement of the TARA BASA! Tutoring Program for the year 2026, as this program aims to provide focused tutoring services to incoming Grade 2 pupils from low-income families and has been a vital initiative supported by SKSU and DSWD to improve early childhood literacy and academic support in the region. The proposed renewed partnership is set to further empower young learners in the SOCCSKSARGEN region by enhancing the delivery of tutorial services through trained college student tutors and Youth Development Workers with SKSU playing a central role in the program’s academic and operational support.
This initiative was carried out with the full support of the University President, Samson L. Molao, EdD, whose steadfast commitment to strengthening community engagement and fostering collaborative partnerships continues to inspire and empower the university’s extension programs.
The TARA BASA! Tutoring Program exemplifies the shared vision of SKSU and DSWD to uphold quality education and social welfare through collaborative initiatives. Both institutions reaffirmed their dedication to sustain and expand this impactful program as part of their continuing efforts for inclusive education and community development which are anchored to United Nations SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
