The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) successfully conducted the National “Hands-Only CPR Day” on July 17, 2025, at the SKSU ACCESS Campus in EJC Montilla, Tacurong City. The event received full support from University President Dr. Samson L. Molao, EdD.
The activity was attended by key university officials, faculty, and staff from the Isulan, Tacurong, and ACCESS campuses. It was held in line with Republic Act 10871, known as the “Samboy Lim Law,” which was enacted on July 17, 2016, declaring every July 17 as National CPR Day.
Spearheaded by the Health and Ancillary Services under the leadership of Director Grace R. Pedrola, the program was conducted in partnership with HRMDO, CCA-DRRMC, and the Philippine Red Cross – Sultan Kudarat Chapter, which served as the training facilitator.
The program began with an opening message from Dr. Reynaldo H. Dalayap, Jr., Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), followed by the rationale and overview presented by Dr. Louvette Fajardo, Retainer Physician. Special messages were delivered by Rodrigo Jamorabon, DPA, member of the SK Board of Directors, and Alaudin Masabpi, RN, OIC Director of SK PRC.
Participants engaged in simulation activities and return demonstrations, equipping them with practical skills in performing hands-only CPR. The event concluded with the closing remarks of Director Manshur Luna, MIT.
This initiative aligns with the University’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: By teaching basic life-saving skills and empowering individuals to respond to cardiac emergencies.
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: By building resilient communities through CPR knowledge and preparedness.
SDG 4 – Quality Education: By promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Through this program, SKSU continues to uphold its vision as “Generators of Solutions,” not only in the field of education but also in advancing public health and community safety. By equipping its stakeholders with essential life-saving skills, the university reaffirms its commitment to producing responsible and proactive citizens who are ready to respond to emergencies and make a meaningful difference in society.
