The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), spearheaded by the Training Consultancy Services (TCS) unit, successfully conducted the Research Writing and Publishing Workshop on April 11–13, 2025, at the Graduate School Conference Hall, ACCESS Campus, EJC Montilla, City of Tacurong.
The three-day intensive workshop was designed to strengthen the research competencies of educators and researchers by providing them with practical knowledge and strategies in academic writing and scholarly publication.
A notable roster of research experts delivered lectures and interactive sessions throughout the event. Dr. Mildred F. Accad shared valuable insights on “Quality Assurance in Research Writing and Publication” and “Writing the Abstract and the Introduction in the Best Way.” Dr. Adrian V. Protacio conducted an in-depth series of workshops covering “Innovative Scholarly Writing Strategies,” orientation on online grammar application software, formatting based on reputable journals, literature review and methodology, and writing research articles using journal templates. Meanwhile, Dr. Rosita T. Rizaldo tackled “Ethics in Publishing,” Dr. Abraham S. Accad discussed “Intellectual Property Rights,” and Dr. Chris John Bryan C. Dela Cruz led an engaging session on “Cultural Issues in Research.”
The success of the workshop was further reinforced by the support of SKSU President Dr. Samson L. Molao, whose commitment to faculty development and research excellence continues to guide the university’s academic initiatives.
The final day of the workshop was devoted to the evaluation of participants’ outputs, which were critiqued and refined for potential submission to peer-reviewed journals. All participants earned 12 CPD units, contributing to the renewal of their professional teaching licenses.
SKSU-TCS is now preparing for a series of upcoming academic events in 2025, including the International Multidisciplinary Research Conference in June; Latest Trends in General Education Courses and Technology Education in July; Sulong Saliksik sa Wika at Panitikan bilang Pundasyon ng Maka-Filipinong Pananaliksik: Serye 2 in August; Seminar-Workshop on Structural Equation Modeling for Statisticians and Researchers in September; and the International White Deer Award in December.
These initiatives affirm SKSU’s mission of delivering advanced instruction, promoting scholarly innovation, and contributing to national development through quality research, extension, and instruction.
