
GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Nursing students from Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) emerged as champions in the 4th Battle of the Nightingales 2025, a regionwide nursing quiz bowl held on May 16, 2025, in General Santos City.
The team was composed of Kara O. Reyes and Sharene Kate G. Eribal, both third-year nursing students, and Yvrin Gabriel D. Lagcao, a second-year nursing student. They bested other participating schools in a competition that tested their knowledge, critical thinking, and understanding of core nursing concepts.
SKSU secured the championship title, followed by Notre Dame University as first runner-up and Notre Dame of Marbel University as second runner-up.
The achievement was made possible through the guidance and support of College Dean Dr. Mark Ryan Y. Contaoi, RN, PhD, who has been instrumental in preparing the students for academic excellence and leadership in the field of nursing. The team also acknowledged the support of University President Dr. Samson L. Molao, EdD, for his continued encouragement and commitment to student development.
The Battle of the Nightingales is an annual event that brings together nursing schools from across the region to promote academic excellence and foster camaraderie among future healthcare professionals.
