SKSU Signs MOU and Undertakes Benchmarking Initiatives with Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Thailand

Samut Prakan, Thailand– In a significant step toward strengthening academic collaboration, elevating institutional standards, and strengthening internationalization undertakings Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huachiew Chalermprakiet University (HCU), renowned professional university on Health and Allied Sciences on September 9-10, 2024. The MOU signing marks a milestone in SKSU’s continued commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and global competitiveness.

The MOU, signed at a formal ceremony attended by university officials, faculty members, and representatives from partner institutions, outlines areas of cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, curriculum development, and capacity-building programs. On behalf of HCU University President, Associate Professor Uraipan Janvanichyanont, PhD, the university was represented by Jonathan Rante Carreon, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Through this partnership, SKSU aims to broaden its international and national linkages while providing students and faculty with opportunities to engage in collaborative research and professional growth, particularly in Medical Technology, Nursing, Biology, and other health and allied sciences.

In addition to the MOU signing, SKSU conducted benchmarking activities led by its OIC President, Dr. Jesusa D. Ortuoste, who emphasized the importance of these partnerships in shaping the university’s future, particularly in its internationalization efforts. The benchmarking activities focused on identifying best practices and improving SKSU’s academic programs, administrative processes, and student services. The SKSU delegation included Dr. Mary Lynn G. Magbanua, Vice President for Research Development and Extension; Carmela Camila B. Urbano, Dean of the College of Health Sciences; Mandy A. Delfin, Secretary of the College of Medicine; Rowenie Cynthia T. Non, Program Chairperson of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology; and Doreen B. Tampus, Executive Assistant to the OIC President. SKSU’s partners also participated in the benchmarking activities, including Ruztom David A. Bella, Director for Health Affairs of the Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat, and Britz P. Palmes, Quality Assurance-in-Charge and Secretary of Vital Health Laboratory, Medical Clinic, and Pharmacy. The delegation toured facilities and engaged in in-depth discussions on curriculum design, research initiatives, and community engagement strategies. With these initiatives, the university hopes to create a dynamic environment for learning, research, and community development that will benefit both its internal and external stakeholders.

The signing ceremony and subsequent activities were met with optimism and enthusiasm by all participants, highlighting the growing spirit of collaboration and innovation within the academic community as SKSU continues to strengthen ties with partner institutions and implement the learnings from benchmarking.
