A New Chapter for Legal Education: SKSU Begins Construction of College of Law Multi-Purpose Building

Tacurong City – Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) officially reached another significant milestone as it conducted the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of the Multi-Purpose Building for the College of Law on September 8, 2026 at the SKSU Access Campus, EJC Montilla, Tacurong City. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in SKSU’s commitment to strengthening legal education and providing a modern, functional, and conducive facility that will support the academic activities, training, and professional development of future legal practitioners.

Leading the university delegation was SKSU President Atty. Cyrus E. Torrena, DPA, MNSA, together with the University Key Officials, who expressed gratitude to the government partners and stakeholders whose continued support has contributed to the realization of this project. This important project is made possible through the initiative and support of Governor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, Congresswoman Bai Ruth Sakaluran, and Congressman John Clement Abalos of the 4Ps Party-list, whose commitment to advancing education and institutional development has contributed greatly to the realization of this landmark undertaking.

The momentous occasion was graced by the presence of Governor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, together with the Provincial Board Members of Sultan Kudarat, reflecting the provincial government’s unwavering support for initiatives that promote quality education and institutional advancement. Joining the celebration was Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla, together with the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, reaffirming the city’s strong partnership with SKSU in advancing programs and projects that benefit the community. Representing the Municipality of Isulan was Vice Mayor Atty. Arnold Armada, on behalf of Municipal Mayor Bai Rihan Mangudadatu Sakaluran, together with the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, who shared in the celebration of SKSU’s continued growth and development. Also in attendance was Tingog Partylist Regional Coordinator Ms. Liza Lacson and members of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Sultan Kudarat.

The new College of Law Multi-Purpose Building stands as a testament to SKSU’s dedication to advancing legal education and creating a learning environment that will nurture competent, ethical, and service-oriented future members of the legal profession. More than the construction of a physical structure, this project symbolizes SKSU’s vision of building stronger foundations for excellence, justice education, and meaningful service to the community.
