Tacurong City – Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), through the SOXAARRDEC, conducted the Project PEN 2.0 Training Writeshop on September 23–25, 2026, at the SKSU ACCESS Campus. Sponsored by Sultan Kudarat State University, the three-day training brought together researchers and participants from different State Universities and Colleges including Private HEI for an intensive learning and writing enhancement program aimed at strengthening competencies in preparing, improving, and responding to reviewers’ comments on research papers.
The training formally opened with an Opening Program featuring an inspirational message from SKSU University President Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña, DPA, MNSA, represented by Dr. Elvie V. Diaz. The message highlighted the importance of strengthening research capacity and continuously improving the quality and impact of scholarly work.
Meanwhile, Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Director of SOXAARRDEC, delivered the rationale of the training, emphasizing the importance of equipping researchers with practical skills in refining manuscripts and navigating the journal publication and resubmission process.
The succeeding sessions featured intensive paper critiquing and review activities, allowing participants to receive constructive feedback and identify areas for improvement in their research manuscripts. The sessions provided opportunities for scholarly discussions and hands-on application of strategies to enhance the clarity, organization, and overall quality of research papers.
A key component of the training was the workshop on answering evaluators’ comments for journal resubmissions, facilitated by Dr. Aristotle T. Ubando as the resource person. The session provided participants with practical approaches to addressing reviewers’ observations, preparing appropriate responses, and revising manuscripts in accordance with journal requirements.
Through Project PEN 2.0, SOXAARRDEC and Sultan Kudarat State University continue to provide opportunities for researchers to enhance their academic writing and publication competencies, supporting the University’s pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and knowledge dissemination.
