Sultan Kudarat State University has taken steps to harmonize existing versions of its Student Manual to ensure clearer, consistent, and properly approved policies for students across the University, following the directive of University President Atty. Cyrus E. Torrena, DPA, MNSA, to revisit the manual and make its provisions more responsive to current academic realities.
During a meeting held on September 25, 2026, the review was led by Dr. Alan A. Maglantay, Vice President for Academic Affairs, together with concerned University officials. The body reviewed the different versions of the manual and agreed that the Board of Regents-approved 2023 Student Manual shall serve as the primary basis for consolidating proposed revisions.
After nearly nine hours of painstaking and detailed deliberation, the review has moved a little more than halfway through the manual. Discussions focused on aligning provisions with current University practices while ensuring that proposed amendments undergo the appropriate academic and administrative processes.
Among the matters reviewed were class scheduling, adding and dropping of subjects, crash courses, make-up classes, flexible learning arrangements, and other academic procedures that directly affect students.
More than updating provisions, the harmonization effort reflects President Torrena’s directive to ensure that the Student Manual remains student-centered, relevant, fair, and consistently implemented across campuses.
The initiative supports SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by strengthening student-centered academic governance, institutional accountability, and the transparent implementation of University policies.
