Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Climate Resilient Adaptation Center

The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) established the Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Climate Resilient Adaptation Center (DRRMCRAC) in compliance with Republic Act No. 10121, also known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 (PDRRM Act of 2010). It shall spearhead the creation of policies and implementing activities leading towards protecting the lives of students, employees, and properties of the University through disaster preparedness where vulnerabilities are assessed and planning is done.

The year 2020 was tough and challenging. Places in Mindanao were affected heavily by earthquakes, flood, and storm surge. Human lives were lost, government assets and household properties were damaged. Then came the
COVID-19 pandemic, known to be the most striking disaster of them all. The local government units, government and non-government institutions were mobilized to respond within their capacity and resources to counteract further spread of the virus.

The university has been an active arm of the LGUs in the province, complementing different programs and activities dealing about disasters within its scope of service-delivery. It is hoped that through the spirit of cooperation and altruism, the University constituents will continue sharing these positive acts, live with discipline, and sustain their caring attitude towards people and the environment.
