To uphold its profile as a leading academic institution aiming for excellence, Sultan Kudarat State University received the Philippine Quality Award Level 2 Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for implementing quality and productivity management principles and significant progress in building a sound and notable processes, streamed live via PQA Facebook page, March 23, 2022.
SKSU is said to be the first State University in Mindanao to receive the prestigious quality award during the conduct of the 24th PQA Assessment Cycle. Atty. Engelbert C. Caronan, Jr. handed out the institution with the Level 2 recognition as one of Mindanao’s prides.
University President Rolando F. Hechanova, RPAE, accepted the award, thanking the Department of Trade and Industry, Development Academy of the Philippines, consultants, and the Office of the President for the national recognition awarded to the university. He also gave his utmost gratitude to SKSUans for the hard work they offered to bring the university to a higher level of excellence during the PQA roadmap on September 15–17, 2021, where the said institution underwent months of preparation before the September 2021 online evaluation occurred.
“Indeed, we [SKSUans] are true to our tagline: We don’t dream of success, we work for success!,” said the university president as he delivered his acceptance speech. After SKSU, five other schools also received PQA Level 2 recognition. These schools were: Isabela State University-Echague Campus, Philippine Science High School-Ilocos Region Campus, Department of Labor and Employment-XI, Department of Science and Technology-CALABARZON, and Philippine Science High School-Ilocos Region Campus, respectively.
Moreover, the PQA recognition awarded is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organization performance in the Philippines, patterned after the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in the United States of America.
