Koronadal City, South Cotabato — Strengthening its commitment to community engagement and inclusive education, Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) officially joined forces with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XII and key partner institutions through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for the implementation of the “Tara Basa! Tutoring Program” on March 19, 2026. The ceremonial signing was held at The Farm at Carpenter Hill, gathering representatives from the academe, government agencies, and partner stakeholders who share a unified vision of improving literacy and empowering communities.
The “Tara Basa! Tutoring Program,” a flagship initiative of DSWD, aims to enhance the reading proficiency of young learners while providing meaningful opportunities for college students to serve as tutors. Through this collaboration, SKSU will mobilize its students to actively participate in the program, contributing to nation-building while gaining valuable experience in community service and education.
SKSU was proudly represented by its dynamic and visionary president, Dr. Samson L. Molao, together with the Tara Basa University Focal Person, Dr. Anesa P. Mangindra, Tara Basa Technical Working Group (TWG) member, Dr. Rodelee C. Canillo and University Scholarship Coordinator, Prof. Florlyn Mae C. Remegio, who all played key roles in advancing the university’s engagement in the initiative.
In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this initiative strongly reflects SKSU’s commitment to supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as it promotes inclusive and equitable access to learning opportunities and fosters strong collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
