PSU‘s Petroleum Engineering Program soon to be offered in SKSU!

As part of the on-going preparation of Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) for the offering of the Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering, the University hosted two (2) visitors from Palawan State University (PSU) on March 12-15, 2023. Engr. Roy Dayupay, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Engr. Glenn Dejucos, the Program Chairperson of the BS in Petroleum Engineering, arrived on March 12, 2023 from Palawan State University for a three-day meeting with the key official of SKSU.

The meeting was geared towards the finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement on the offering of the BS in Petroleum Engineering in consortium between SKSU and PSU. On March 13, Engr. Dayupay and Engr. Dejucos sat down with the faculty members of the College of Engineering to discuss and present the curriculum for the program. Various observations were raised by the Chairperson of the College of Engineering of SKSU which were considered in the re-alignment of the curriculum for presentation to the University Curriculum Committee. In the afternoon of the same day, the visitors were taken to the Provincial Capitol were they were given a tour by no less than the Provincial Administrator, Sir Jimmy Andang.

On March 14, a meeting with the University key officials and the PSU delegates was presided over by the University President Dr. Samson L. Molao at the University Board Room. Key officials in attendance include the three (3) Vice Presidents, the Director for Instruction, the Director for Finance, the Director for Planning, the Director of Isulan Campus, the University Legal Officer, the Chairperson for Curriculum Development and Review, the University Accountant, the University Budget Officer, and all the faculty members of the College of Engineering. Representatives from the Province were also present during the meeting.

The meeting discussed the curriculum, with some comments from the Director for Instruction and the Dean of the College of Engineering of SKSU. Another item on the agenda was the sharing scheme for the fees to be collected from the prospective students. As discussed, PSU will be the degree granting institution, hence, the students will be of PSU. The University Legal Officer also commented on certain provisions of the MOA which were noted by PSU delegates. The meeting ended with an agreement that the MOA signing will be at SKSU upon approval by the respective Board of Regents of the two universities.

In the afternoon of March 14, the visitors were taken on a cultural tour to showcase what Sultan Kudarat has to offer. The BS in Petroleum Engineering in consortium with PSU is set to open at the 1st Semester of Academic Year 2023-2024 upon approval of the Board of Regents of both universities.
