The Sultan Kudarat State University – College of Health Sciences (SKSU-CHS) participated the 1st ever Battle of the Nightingales – A Region-wide Inter-school Quiz Bowl on the Nursing Arts hosted by the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Inc. in collaboration with the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) and City Health Office of General Santos City last May 12, 2022 at Veranza Mall Atrium.
The participants from the SKSU-CHS are from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Level IV namely: (1) Erika Gayle L. Maglasang; (2) Alyssa F. Guillermo; (3) Archie E. Abando; (4) Princess Merry Nor O. Tabacug; and (5) David Alexander G. Alim. These students were also coached and supervised by Cesar J. Nallos III, RN, MAN.
Moreover, the event was participated by Brokenshire College SOCSKSARGEN, Inc., Notre Dame of Dadiangas University, General Santos Medical School Foundation, Inc., Notre Dame of Marbel University, Notre Dame of Tacurong College and Sultan Kudarat State University. During the preliminary round, the team managed to be part of the Top 3 schools. With this, the team advanced to the final round and was able to maintain a lead from other schools. As tallied and verified by the organizers, the Sultan Kudarat State University was proclaimed the Champion, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University and Notre Dame of Tacurong College were declared, second place and third place, respectively.
In addition, the team was able to receive certificate of participation, medals, trophy, and cash prizes of Php 20,000.00 (Students) and Php 5,000.00 (Coach).
Further, the SKSU-CHS will represent the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Inc. on the Battle of the Champions, a Mindanao-wide Inter-Nursing School Quiz Bowl which will be participated by other Metro Pacific Hospitals with its representative schools. Lastly, the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Inc. together with its management pledged to give their full support to the team on the upcoming event.
Lastly, the team made a courtesy call to the University President, Rolando F. Hechanova, PhD, RPAE to present the said achievement and to personally thank him for the all-out support given by the SKSU Administration.
