Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) Graduate School Administration gathered at the Conference Room, QMS Building on September 15, 2026, for the Orientation on CMO 15, Series of 2019, cum Capacity-Building on the OPSD Graduate Teacher Education Tool.
The program opened with the welcome remarks from Dr. Adrian V. Protacio, Dean of the Graduate School, setting the tone for the day’s discussions on strengthening graduate teacher education standards.
Dr. Elizabeth S. Bauzon, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, introduced the resource speaker, Dr. Anabelle R. Dafielmoto, Program Education Supervisor for Graduate Education at CHEDRO 12, who led the main orientation and capacity-building session from mid-morning through midday.
Dr. Dafielmoto walked participants through the provisions of CMO 15 and the practical use of the OPSD tool for monitoring graduate teacher education programs, specifying the documents and requirements to be attached, submitted, and taken into consideration when accomplishing the tool. She emphasized that careful compliance with these requirements would help ensure a smooth accreditation process for the Graduate School’s programs.
Following a lunch break, the afternoon session continued with a hands-on workshop led by Dr. Dafielmoto, giving participants the opportunity to apply what they had learned, particularly in preparing and organizing the requirements discussed earlier in the day. An open forum allowed attendees to raise questions and clarify concerns before the event concluded with a group photo.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Walter C. Latorza, who thanked the resource speaker and participants and underscored the importance of continued compliance and quality assurance in graduate teacher education and other programs at SKSU.
The activity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, through continuous capacity-building, quality assurance, and the strengthening of graduate teacher education programs. It also contributes to SDG 5 – Gender Equality by promoting inclusive and equitable educational practices and professional development opportunities that support the participation and advancement of all individuals regardless of gender. Furthermore, the activity advances SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting institutional quality, accountability, and compliance with established standards, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between SKSU and the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII in advancing quality higher education.
