TACURONG, SULTAN KUDARAT – The Sultan Kudarat State University through the office of the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (CCDRRMC) joined in the celebration of 2021 National Disaster Resilience Month.
Through the Executive Order No. 29 s. 2017 designates month of July of each year as the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) throughout the country and mandates the conduct of activities relative to building of disaster resilience covering the four thematic areas namely (1) Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; (2) Disaster Preparedness; (3) Disaster Response; and (4) Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery.
This year’s NDRM theme: “Tamang Pamamahala’t Kahandaan, Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan sa Sakuna at Pandemyaý Kalasag ng Bayan”, emphasize the important role of disaster risk governance and the collaboration of all Filipinos to overcome the challenges of this pandemic and to build a green and resilient new normal.
The limitations brought by COVID-19 pandemic has introduced alternative strategies using online tools and campaigns in strengthening public participation and increasing awareness in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) to DRR practitioners and the general public.
