On October 17, 2023, the Sultan Kudarat State University delivered ready-to-lay Itik Pinas as part of the techno-transfer to Mindanao State University-Main Campus in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
SKSU was represented by the University President, Dr. Samson L. Molao, Vice President for Research Development and Extension RD&E), Dr. Julie E. Albanom, and the Project Leader of the Itik Pinas Project, Prof. Michael John D. Benavidez. A total of 25 heads of female and 4 male itik pinas itim (IP-itim), 25 heads of female and 4 male itik pinas Khaki (IP-Khaki – all purelines), and 15 heads of heritage chicken were given to MSU-Marawi to serve as the breeder stocks. The ITIK for LIFE project is a research project funded by DOST-PCAARRD from 2017 to 2021. With the initiative of SKSU through the RD&E division, the project is still in its full operation and continues to provide farmers and community with itik as their source of livelihood.
As SKSU is committed to strengthen its local partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding was established between SKSU and MSU with the latter agreeing to become one of the recipients of Itik Pinas dispersal project.
