ZAMBOANGA CITY — Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) President Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña, DPA, MNSA, together with key University officials, joined higher education leaders and delegates from across the country during a Welcome Dinner and Birthday Celebration held on September 14 at Western Mindanao State University (WMSU).
The gathering welcomed participants of the Workshop on University’s IQA Implementation in the Philippines Utilising AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3, scheduled from September 15 to 17, while also celebrating the birthday of Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Executive Director of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
Among the distinguished guests were Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, CHED Commissioner Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari, and Dr. Ho, together with state university presidents and key institutional officials from across the country.
Leading the SKSU delegation were President Torrena; Dr. Alan A. Maglantay, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Rodelyn M. Dalayap, Director for Quality Assurance; Dr. Elmer C. Buenavides, AACCUP Board of Trustees member; Mary Grace G. Maglantay, Chairperson for Curriculum Review and Development; Dr. Jonathan T. Roque, Lutayan Campus Director; Dr. Marlon D. Bangonon, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education; and Dr. Roselyn Calixtro.
The evening provided a joyful and lively atmosphere for arriving delegates, offering an opportunity for university leaders and participants to interact ahead of the three-day workshop. The celebration was filled with live music, singing, dancing, and other interactive activities that fostered camaraderie among the guests.
The participation of the SKSU delegation reflects the University’s continuing commitment to strengthening its internal quality assurance systems and engaging with national and international quality assurance initiatives. Through the upcoming workshop, SKSU joins other higher education institutions in advancing quality education and institutional excellence, supporting the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
