Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) President – Dr. Samson L. Molao, together with key officials of the SKSU met with Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu and the representatives of the Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat for a MOA signing activity for the proposed establishment of the College of Medicine (COM) in SKSU.
The two parties convened at the King’s Hall in the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol last June 13, 2023.
Mandy A. Delfin, MA, RMT – The program head of Medical Technology and one of the focal persons of the COM program, presented to the group the reformed and adjusted plans for the establishment of SKSU-COM, tailored to accommodate the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) requirements in establishing Colleges of Medicine in the country.
The adjustments and recalibrations of the plans were made possible through the benchmarking activity of Top Performing Schools in the Medicine Program conducted last May 2023.
Discussions on major requirements of CHED and other issues were made after the presentation, including the selection of the Base Training Hospital, student admission, and the facilities and resources of the program.
After volleys of ideas and proposals, it wasn’t long until both parties have seen eye to eye and come to agree on the statement: “We are ready!”.
Meanwhile, Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu also pledged that all the first batch of the college will be full scholars of the Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat.
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement ensued after the discussion, making the SKSU College of Medicine officially underway.
The Sultan Kudarat State University – College of Medicine is expected to be fully operational and open to enrollees in 2024.
