AKLAN, Philippines — Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), led by University President Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña, DPA, MNSA, strengthened its research, academic, and internationalization initiatives through a collaborative engagement with Aklan State University (ASU) and participation in the ZEP Research activity and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing on August 21, 2026.
The engagement brought together higher education institutions and academic partners from the Philippines and abroad, opening opportunities for research collaboration, academic networking, publication support, capacity-building, and future institutional partnerships. Participating institutions represented countries including the Philippines, India, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, and the Sultanate of Oman.
A highlight of the activity was the signing of an MOU involving ZEP Research, an India-based academic support organization that provides assistance in journal publication, international conferences, manuscript preparation, and training in data science, artificial intelligence, and analytics.
SKSU was represented by Dr. Mildred F. Accad, Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation. Joining President Torreña were SKSU Board Secretary Lynette G. Peniero; Dr. Rosita T. Rizaldo, who served as a presenter; and Dr. Abraham Accad, who also participated in the activity.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for President Torrena to connect with fellow university leaders, including Aklan State University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin and Sulu State University President Dr. Charisma Samparani Ututalum, further strengthening institutional ties and opportunities for collaboration among participating higher education institutions.
The engagement reflects SKSU’s continuing direction under the leadership of President Torrena, anchored on the maxim: “Leading with Integrity, Advancing Excellence.”
