Tacurong City – Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance through the successful conduct of an In-House Training Seminar on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 12009, or the “New Government Procurement Act,” on May 6, 2026. The activity gathered key university officials, administrative personnel, end-user representatives, and members of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) in a collaborative learning environment aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in public procurement.

The training seminar was graced by Resource Person, DBM Region XII Director Akmad J. Usman, CPA, who shared his expertise and in-depth knowledge on the salient features of the new law and its implementing rules. His discussion provided clarity on critical provisions, recent updates, and practical applications of procurement policies, enabling participants to better navigate the complexities of government procurement processes.

In attendance was University President Dr. Samson L. Molao, who expressed his sincere gratitude to Regional Director Akmad J. Usman, CPA, for his time and for generously sharing his expertise, noting that his insights greatly contributed to the participants’ deeper understanding of the new procurement law and its implementing rules.

The conduct of this training reflects the university’s proactive approach to institutional development, ensuring that its workforce remains well-equipped, knowledgeable, and responsive to evolving government policies. Moreover, this undertaking aligns with the university’s broader goal of delivering quality public service by strengthening internal systems and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Through this initiative, SKSU further strengthens its support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by promoting ethical procurement practices that contribute to fair competition, responsible resource management, encourages the adoption of efficient, innovative, and technology-driven procurement systems, and promotes transparency, accountability, and effective institutional governance.
