DOST-PTRI approves SKSU hosting the Natural Textile Fiber Innovation Hub and Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center

The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a second ocular visit to verify the venue and status for the Fiber Extraction Facility on May 15-17, 2023 at SKSU ACCESS Campus, EJC Montilla, Tacurong City. The SKSU is one of the three SUCs to host the NTFIH and RYPIC, as the DOST Region XII recommended. This is under the implementation of the DOST-GIA project, Establishment of the Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center (RYPIC) – Mindanao.

The DOST-PTRI technical team comprised Henry R. Listano (SRS II), Mary Emmanuelle M. Ramos (PTA IV), Lejsam Luis P. Dela Cruz (PTA III), Giselle Eve O. Siladan (SSRS) and Sittie Aleah M. Mungkas (PA II). Meanwhile, the team was welcomed by Dr. Reynaldo Dalayap, Jr. (VP-FARG), Regent Eulogio L. Apellido., Jr (Faculty Association President), Engr. Rodolfo B. Solomon (Chief of Infrastructure), Dr. Mildred Accad (Graduate School Dean).

After a thorough assessment and interview with SKSU personnel, the DOST-PTRI technical team approves SKSU as the host for the project. The SKSU has presented the venue for installing the Fibrous Leave-Decorticator Machines. Hence, the project shall tentatively commence in October 2023. SKSU continuously sustains partnerships and linkages with other agencies as it gears toward timely innovations.
