The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) has made a significant mark at the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). At the heart of this event, held at the Sultan Kudarat Cultural Center and Sports Complex, is the SKSU Booth, which has been garnering attention for its array of innovative products.

The SKSU Booth proudly features the fruits of the Technology Business Incubation Project, an initiative aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation within the University and the neighboring communities. This project has provided a platform for budding entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into market-ready products. Among the standout products on display are handwoven bags, mushroom-based products, BiMon (Bigas-Monggo) curls, balot (duck embryo), honey, coffee, chili powder, and dried fish. Additionally, the SOXAARDEC Booth, a research consortium in the Region, showcased SKSU’s chevon sausage as one of its generated technologies.

The handwoven bags showcase the rich local craftsmanship, with intricate designs and sustainable materials making them not just fashionable but also environmentally friendly. Mushroom products highlight the region’s agricultural diversity, offering a range of nutritious and delicious options for consumers.

The BiMOn curls, a fusion of rice and mung bean, have been a hit among health-conscious consumers. They not only provide a tasty snack but also promote a balanced diet. Chevon sausage, made from goat meat, offers a unique and flavorful alternative to traditional sausages.

Balot, a popular street food in the Philippines, has been given a fresh twist at the SKSU Booth, attracting adventurous foodies. The booth also boasts an assortment of locally sourced honey and coffee, reflecting the University’s commitment to supporting local agriculture and sustainable practices.

Dr. Samson L. Molao, the University President, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the incubatees and the Research Development and Extension Division for their unwavering support in bringing the SKSU Booth to life. He emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in creating opportunities for the local community and uplifting the region’s economy.

“The SKSU Booth is a testament to the creativity and dedication of our students and entrepreneurs. We are immensely proud to showcase their products at the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve when academia, research, and entrepreneurship join hands,” said Dr. Molao.

The SKSU Booth has not only wowed visitors but also provided a platform for networking and collaboration among local entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers. It serves as an inspiration for aspiring innovators and underscores the role of education institutions in driving regional development through innovation and entrepreneurship.

As the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week continues, the SKSU Booth remains a beacon of innovation and a symbol of the university’s commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting sustainable economic growth in Sultan Kudarat.
